Mohammad Eslami, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, at the sidelines of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s General Conference in Vienna, called on the IAEA to support a resolution and condemn the illegal and aggressive attacks of Israel against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

Why it matters:

Iran urges the international organization to fairly observe and report Israel's attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, while Tehran's activities have always been under close monitoring by the IAEA.

The big picture:

Representatives from the IAEA’s 180 Member States convene from 15-19 September for the 69th IAEA General Conference at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

What he's saying:

Eslami, in an interview with IRIB, said:

“We made it clear that the Iranian nation is neither vulnerable to threats nor willing to surrender”.

He emphasized that Iran’s nuclear knowledge is indigenous and “cannot be erased by bombings or assassinations.”

We believe in inspections, but inspections that guarantee our security, including the safety of our scientists.
