The Speaker of Iran’s Parliament has called for unity across the Islamic world, emphasizing that such solidarity is not a political tactic but a religious and strategic necessity for preserving the dignity of the Muslim Ummah and confronting its enemies.

Why it matters:

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where Israeli military operations have drawn global outrage, is getting worse every day. Emphasizing Islamic unity could pave the way for coordinated diplomatic and humanitarian action among Muslim-majority nations.

The big picture:

As civilian casualties mount in Gaza, pressure is growing on governments and international institutions to take an action. According to Gaza health ministry more than 63000 people have been killed by the Israel including women and children. Many children are suffering from hunger and the health system is ruined.

What he’s saying:

In his speech, the Speaker stated:

“The Islamic Ummah must unite based on shared values; this is not merely a political tactic but a religious and strategic necessity for the dignity of the Muslim community and overcoming its enemies.”

He added: “The most important manifestation of unity should be in the struggle against the Zionist regime, which represents the greatest evil. Muslims must speak with one voice to condemn the crimes and genocide in Gaza.”
