Following the Martyrdom of Hashim Sharaf al-Din, Yemen's information minister, in the Zionist regime's attack on a high-level meeting of Yemeni government officials, the World Service of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting condemned Israel's aggression through a statement.

Why it matters:

Considering the Israeli regime's attack on IRIB during the 12-day war, the condemnation of the martyrdom of the Yemeni Minister of Information by the IRIB's World Service is an emphasis on the continuation of the path of free information and conveying the voices of the oppressed by the IRIB.

The big picture:

Several Yemeni officials, including Prime Minister Ahmed Ghalib al-Rahwi, and some others, including Hashim Sharaf al-Din, Yemen's information minister, were martyred in the Israeli terrorist attack on the city of Sana'a on Thursday.

What he is saying:

In its statement, IRIB praised Hashim Sharaf al-Din as "the true son of Yemen, the guardian of truth, and the standard-bearer of the voice of the oppressed," emphasizing his role as a media warrior against Zionist "lies and distortion."

The statement declared that Hashim Sharaf al-Din used the “pen” as a “weapon” in the field of media jihad throughout his glorious life, standing against the arsenal of lies and distortion of Zionism.

"The bullets targeted the bodies of the Prime Minister and eight of his ministers and deputies, but never their thoughts and ideals," it added.

"The IRIB World Service strongly condemns this war crime and blatant violation of all human covenants, and warns international organizations, human rights groups, and free media that silence in the face of such bloodshed is a clear example of complicity in the crime."

Key points:

  • The attack targeted a high-level Yemeni government meeting, killing the Prime Minister and eight ministers, including Hashim Sharaf al-Din.
  • IRIB condemned the assault as a "war crime" and called on international bodies to speak out.
