Iran Press/ Iran news: During a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on Tuesday, Hassan Rouhani expressed his condolences over the death of the late Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem and stated: "The relations between Tehran and Damascus were established after the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and during the lifetime of Imam Khomeini and Mr. Hafez Assad, and today, with the will and decision of the officials of the two countries, these relations continue to be strong."
Emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will always stand by the Syrian people and government, the President stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its determination and will to support the Syrian government and people as a strategic ally, and always and we will be with Syria until the final victory."
