Iran Press/Iran News: Stating that the purchase of the coronavirus vaccine (COVAX) should be made through the official channel of the World Health Organization, Abdolnaser Hemmati said that Iran has been barred from paying and transferring the currency needed to buy the vaccine due to the US inhumane sanctions and the need to obtain Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) licenses.
This is while the US claims that there are no restrictions on medicine, Hemmati wrote in a note on his Instagram page.
The governor of the Central Bank of Iran added: "South Korea, due to the transfer of money through the U-turn dollar for humanitarian purchases, could not guarantee that the US government will not confiscate the money of the Central Bank of Iran during the transfer."
Hemmati pointed out that the International Monetary Fund, under pressure and threats from the United States, and despite acknowledging Iran's right and the absence of any economic or legal obstacles, did not even dare to raise Iran's humanitarian loan request on the Fund's board.
Washington's unilateral and oppressive sanctions, including sanctions on essential items and even medicine, have caused many problems for the Iranian people, especially the coronavirus patients.
