Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said that Iran and Syria relations are close and aim at creating peace and stability in the region.

Iran Press/Iran news: During his weekly press conference in response to an Iran Press' question regarding Syria's Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad’s travel to Tehran, Saeed Khatibzadeh called his first trip to Tehran highly important which highlights the importance of Iran and Syria ties.

He emphasized that these relations aim at creating peace and stability in the region since the Syrian people have gone through a painful path.

"Some regional and trans-regional countries, under the imagination that they can change the government, have created bad conditions for the Syrian people," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman said.

“The United States steals Syrian oil without feeling any shame. Part of Syria is occupied,” Khatibzadeh added.

He added: "We must all work together to achieve lasting peace and stability for Syria through politics." 

Iran is with Syria to have good days for the Syrian people in the coming days, Khatibzadeh concluded.
