Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that Iran's missile strikes on the American Al-Udeid base in Qatar were conducted in exercise of the right to self-defense, as outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. This action was a response to the U.S. military aggression against Iran's territorial integrity and national sovereignty on June 22, 2025.
Baghaei emphasized that this defensive action should not be perceived as an attack against the friendly and neighboring country of Qatar. The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to maintaining its strong and deep-rooted relations with Qatar.
Iran has always upheld the principle of good neighborliness with Qatar and other neighboring countries. We are determined to prevent the aggressive actions and harmful policies of the United States and the Zionist regime from causing discord and division among us and our regional allies.
