The Pakistani Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, over the phone this (Sunday) afternoon.
Shehbaz Sharif condemned the U.S. attacks on Iran, which followed the unprovoked and unjustified aggression of Israel during the past eight days. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly Iranian people and government, expressed his heartfelt condolences for the loss of precious lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister expressed concern that the U.S. attacks targeted facilities that were under the safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These attacks are a serious violation of the IAEA statute and other international laws.
Referring to Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, the Prime Minister stressed the need for immediate dialogue and diplomacy for peace as the only viable way forward. The Prime Minister also called for urgent collective efforts to de-escalate the situation and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to play a constructive role in this context.
President Pezeshkian also appreciated Pakistan’s support for Iran. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister, the government and the people of Pakistan, including the military leadership, for expressing solidarity with the people and government of Iran.
The two leaders stressed the need for unity among the Ummah at this critical juncture. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact.
Trump violated all laws by attacking Iran: Pakistani Cleric
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam's head, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has said that by attacking Iran, Trump violated national and international laws, we declare full support for Iran.
Addressing a religious gathering on Sunday, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman said that the blood of Palestinians, Iraqis, Afghans and the people of Iran is flowing from Trump’s hands.
"By attacking Iran, Trump violated national and international laws, doesn’t this act of his prove him false? If we don’t support Iran, then should we support Israel? We declare full support for Iran and demand that the government withdraw the recommendation for the Global Peace Award for Trump, because Trump is not worthy of this award by any means," he said.
