In a statement posted on X, Abbas Araghchi, strongly condemned the U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. He described the move as a “grave violation” of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), accusing the United States—permanent member of the UN Security Council—of engaging in lawless aggression.
Calling the attacks “outrageous” and warning that they will leave “everlasting consequences,” Araghchi urged the international community to take seriously the deemed a dangerous breach of global norms.
He concluded by affirming Iran’s right to respond, stating that “in accordance with the UN Charter and its provisions allowing a legitimate response in self-defense, Iran reserves all options to defend its sovereignty, interest, and people.”
