Why it matters:
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC Aerospace Force, in a “savage, terrorist” Israeli airstrike on one of its facilities inside Iran.
What they’re saying:
In a statement issued Friday, the IRGC hailed Hajizadeh as a tireless and strategic commander whose leadership over 16 years transformed Iran’s Aerospace Force into a cornerstone of national deterrence and a “thorn in the eye of the enemy.”
“This selfless, tireless commander devoted his life—especially during his 16-year tenure—to enhancing Iran’s deterrence and safeguarding its independence. He was a symbol of innovation, strategic insight, and resistance.”
“This cowardly terrorist act lays bare the Zionist regime’s fear of the field commanders of the Islamic Revolution and further exposes its criminal nature.”
“The martyrdom of Hajizadeh and his comrades will not weaken the path of resistance. Rather, it will strengthen our resolve for harsh retaliation and for continuing their proud, divine path.”
