FM Spokesman:
Saeed Khatibzadeh

Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that West Asia did not need US soldiers for being safe.

Iran PressIran News: Saeed Khatibzadeh told Ariana TV of Afghanistan: "The US military invasion of Afghanistan was a blatant and illegal aggression and what is seen today in the country and region is the ominous legacy of the US military invasion."

"Certainly, Iran's view of the Afghan government is different from that of the United States, which has treated Afghanistan like an occupying power for the past 20 years," he said.

The spokesman stated: "The United States secretly and in the absence of the Afghan government, negotiated with the Taliban about the future of the country; But Iran's dialogue with the Taliban is clear and transparent, and with the knowledge of the Afghan central government, on specific issues such as border security, which today is partly under Taliban control."
