Tehran (IP) - The proud Iranian wrestler was selected as the most popular Greco-Roman wrestler in the world in a poll by the United World Wrestling (UWW).

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Hamid Soorian, holder of seven world and Olympic gold medals, was named the world's most popular Greco-Roman wrestler in a UWW poll. 

Soorian received more than 70% of the votes in this poll and was selected as the most popular Greco-Roman wrestler in the world.

Earlier, the World Wrestling Union named 16 of the world's most famous freestyle wrestlers and asked wrestling enthusiasts around the world to cast their ballots to recognize the world's most popular freestyle wrestler.

At the end of the poll, Hassan Yazdani, an Iranian wrestler who won three world and Olympic gold medals, was named the world's most popular freestyle wrestler.
