The foreign ministers of the three European countries, Britain, France, and Germany (E3), expressed hope that the transfer of power in the United States could open a new perspective for maintaining JCPOA.

Iran PressEuropeGermany's Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that the US' constructive approach to Iran's international nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) can open new perspectives to save the agreement.

Andrea Sasse called on Iran to return to full implementation of the JCPOA, without mentioning the procrastination of the European parties to fulfilling their own obligations to the agreement.

In the trilateral meeting held on Monday in Berlin, the participant countries consulted about the approaches of the JCPOA signatories in the light of the US new president's taking office.

He also pointed to the E3's reaction to Donald Trump's possible actions against JCPOA and said if such actions happen, they will examine them.

Two years after the US unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA on May 8, 2018, and the European parties' delay to fulfil their obligations under the agreement, Iran also began scale-back steps to reduce its obligations under IAEA supervision.

Iran has repeatedly stated that if the remaining parties in the deal decide to implement their obligations, the scale-backs will be reversible.

Yet, the E3 announced last week objection to Iran's scale-backs under the JCPOA, claiming that they created INSTEX (Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges) as a fulfilment of their commitment to the agreement, which has not so far been to the benefit of Iran.

Condemning the E3's positions on Friday, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh noted the E3 are expected to act in full accordance with the internationally signed agreement rather than projecting politically.   The peaceful nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are completely within the framework of international law, being pursued in line with the inherent rights of countries.
