Bandar Abbas (IP) - The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) says Iran has played a unique role in securing the Persian Gulf waters.

Iran Press/Iran news: "The Persian Gulf is a strategic region of the global economy, and Iran has played a unique role in securing the maritime zone,” IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami said on Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony of the oceangoing warship Rudaki’s joining to the IRGC Navy in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, General Salami added: "The Persian Gulf is a strong defensive front of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the meeting point of the powers."

Emphasizing that Iran is not limited to specific geography to defend its security and vital interests, the commander said: "If those who want to threaten the interests of our great nation and country, they will certainly not have a haven on Earth."

The ceremony of the oceangoing warship Shahid Rudaki’s joining to the IRGC Navy was held in the presence of Maj Gen Hossein Salami and a group of military and government officials in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, on Thursday.
