Iran Press/Asia: Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Friday, Wang Wenbin, spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and the United States should not go further down the wrong and dangerous road.
"There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government of China. This is an objective fact and a basic principle governing international relations," said the spokesman.
Wang said that the one-China principle is the political foundation of China-US relations, and on this basis, China and the US recognize each other and establish diplomatic relations.
"Pompeo, out of his own political self-interest, ignores the fundamental interests of the Chinese and US people, confuses black and white, fabricates lies in order to mislead and distort public opinion and further undermine China-US relations and the cross-Strait peace and stability. His evil intentions have long been known to the world. We warn Pompeo that any act that undermines China's core interests or interferes in China's internal affairs will be resolutely countered by the Chinese side and can not resist the historical trend of China's reunification," said Wang.
"We urge the United States to strictly observe the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communique, stop all forms of official and military contacts with the Taiwan region, stop the words and deeds that undermine the cross-Strait peace and stability and China-US relations, and not to go further down the wrong and dangerous road," said Wang.
