Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign ministry spokesman announced that the Iranians rescued from a vessel in the Mediterranean are in good condition, adding that contacts and cooperation with the Egyptian government continue to determine the people’s fate.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Friday the Islamic Republic of Iran appreciates the humanitarian action of the Egyptian government and navy in saving the lives of 57 passengers of the vessel, apparently 29 of whom Iranians, as well as the welfare services provided to them.

Egyptian police announced on Wednesday that the people were transferred to the Iranian Interest Section in Cairo for identification.

According to Khatibzadeh, Egypt's police and foreign ministry informed the Interest Section of Iran in Cairo that the Egyptian navy rescued some Iranians who were traveling on a vessel in the Mediterranean Sea, adding their ship faced a failure due to technical defect, so they ask for help, and now they are in Egypt's city of 'Marsa Matrouh.’
