Turkey calls for increased gas import from Iran

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Deputy Oil Minister announced Turkey's request to increase gas purchases from Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's deputy oil minister said on Monday that a contract to export 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year to Turkey has been signed annually since 2001 for 25 years.

"Hassan Montazer-Torbati" pointed out that the total of Iran's gas exports to Turkey last year was achieved within the framework of the provisions of the contract, adding that recently, requests have been made by this country to increase gas import, and negotiations are underway.

Regarding gas exports to other neighboring countries, the Iranian Deputy Oil Minister also stated that gas trade with the Republic of Azerbaijan is now established in the form of gas swaps from Astara to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Region with a capacity of about one million cubic meters per day.

 

Gas exports to Iraq have also entered the phase of their contract ceiling, which varies between 25 and 35 million cubic meters per day, depending on the seasons, he added.
