The 2020 US Election Day kicked off on Tuesday as voting enters the last stretch in a battle between incumbent President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

Iran PressAmerica: First polling stations opened in the US state of Vermont, kicking off the in-person voting in US elections where incumbent President Donald Trump is in a tight race with his Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

Boxes will close at different times in different states across the United States. Alaska will be the last state to close its ballot box and the election will end there.

The US Elections Project estimates that nearly 98 million Americans have voted early, a number that represents more than 71 percent of all votes cast in 2016. More than 63 million Americans are estimated to have cast their ballot by mail.

In addition, all 435 seats of the House of Representatives are up for grabs and 35 of the 100 seats in the Senate.

Millions of Americans have already voted amid the COVID-19 pandemic in a record early turnout ahead of Tuesday, as surging new infections continue to wreak havoc across the country.
