The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a live televised speech on Tuesday said that Azerbaijan's territories occupied by Armenia should be liberated.

Iran PressIran News: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in his remarks referred to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the recent month and said that Karabakh's occupied territories should be liberated.

On September 27, 2020, the conflict between the Armenian and Azerbaijani military forces resumed on the border between the two countries.

The conflict between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region began in 1988 and turned into a military conflict in 1992.

As a result of this conflict, Armenian forces took control of the seven cities of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A ceasefire was reached in 1994 with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group, but international efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully have so far been unsuccessful.
