Tehran (IP) - The French Chargé d' Affaires, Florent Aydalot, was summoned to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran to protest the French authorities' insistence on supporting the publication of insulting cartoons about the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Iran PressIran News: The Foreign Ministery announced in a statement on Tuesday that in protest to the French authorities' insistence on supporting the publication of insulting cartoons against the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Chargé d' Affaires of the French Embassy in Tehran Florent Aydalot on Monday was summoned by Iran’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the Deputy Director-General for Europe of Iran’s  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while condemning the unacceptable actions of the French authorities that have hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims in Europe and the world, emphasized: "Any insult and disrespect to the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as well as to the pure values ​​of Islam by every person and in every position are strongly condemned and rejected."

He added: "It is deeply regrettable to incite Islamophobia and the spread of hatred in the name of freedom of expression, which should serve communication, empathy and peaceful coexistence between human societies."

"The irrational reaction of the French authorities to the actions of extremists who resort to violence in the name of Islam only provides ground for the growth of deviant tendencies and inconsistencies with this divine religion, which always promises tolerance, rationalism, peace, and tranquility as well as seeking justice “.

Chargé d' Affaires of the French Embassy ​​promised to reflect the Islamic Republic of Iran's protest against the French government's actions in this regard to the relevant authorities of his country as soon as possible.

The French magazine 'Charlie Hebdo' published insulting cartoons against the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) in recent weeks, which was accompanied by the support of the President of France.
