In response to Washington's new sanctions, Iran's foreign minister slammed this act of the US government against the Iranian people.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif added in this tweet: "US National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien has acknowledged that the United States has overused its sanctions capability to inflict more pain on the Iranian people."

He added: "The time has come for the United States to acknowledge that it is addicted to imposing sanctions."

Zarif emphasized: "Get rid of this habit, the more economic war against Iran, the less influence the United States will have."

The US Treasury Department on Monday evening placed the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, its affiliates, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, the Minister of Petroleum, and several other individuals affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum on its sanctions list, which has become an election propaganda tool.

The United States has launched a comprehensive campaign to put pressure on Iran following its illegal withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA (May 8, 2018).

Washington has previously stated that the goal of the "maximum pressure campaign" against Iran is to reach a new agreement with Tehran that addresses all US concerns.
