Tehran (IP) - In a telephone call, the Iranian foreign minister congratulated former Bolivian President Evo Morales on his party victory in the country's presidential election.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke by telephone with former President and leader of the winning party in the recent Bolivian elections, Evo Morales, and congratulated him on his victory in the Bolivian political scene.

Wishing success to the new government, Zarif stressed the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand relations with the new government.

On Monday, Socialist-backed candidate Luis Arce announced his victory in the presidential election.

Arce is backed by former Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Morales resigned on November 10, 2019, following protests against his re-election, and first went to Mexico then to Argentina.
