The head of the parliamentary friendship group of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia expressed satisfaction with the establishment of a ceasefire with the Republic of Azerbaijan and said: " We hope that the ceasefire will be stabilized with the intelligence of the officials of the two countries and that the two sides will return to the negotiating table to resolve this issue."

Iran Press/Iran news: On Sunday, Mehdi Farshadan, during a meeting with Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Artashes Tumanian, called Iran-Armenia relations friendly and based on mutual respect and said: There are deep and longstanding ties between the people of the two countries that pave the way for the use of existing opportunities for economic and social development.

Farshadan added: "Dialogue and exchange of views between the representatives of the two countries' parliaments can lead to mutual understanding and recognition of each other's capacities."

Referring to the capacities of the two countries to increase the level of economic cooperation, Farshadan said: "Considering the outbreak of the Coronavirus, the process of economic relations between the two countries is satisfactory and we hope to see further strengthening of this cooperation."

Expressing concern over the recent conflict between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and expressing satisfaction with the establishment of a ceasefire between the two countries, he said: "We hope the ceasefire will be established with the intelligence of the officials of the two countries and the parties will return to the negotiating table to resolve this issue."

The Ambassador of Armenia in Tehran Artashes Tumanyan also welcomed the talks with the members of Iran's parliament members and said: "Considering that I have 9 years of experience in the Armenian Parliament, I am aware of the position of the parliaments and I welcome the development of parliamentary relations between the two countries."

In another part of his remarks, Artashes Toumanian noted: "Considering the situation caused by the outbreak of the Coronavirus, we would like the representatives of the Armenian and Iranian parliaments to be in virtual contact and exchange views to strengthen bilateral relations."

Referring to the ceasefire in his country's conflict with the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Armenian Ambassador to Tehran said: "We welcome the approach of impartial countries in resolving this conflict."
