Iran's representative to the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly described Iran's development indicator as growing despite US economic terrorism and the coronavirus epidemic.

Iran PressAmerica: Ali Hajilari stated in the meeting of the Second Committee of the 75th UN General Assembly on Sustainable Development on Monday evening that the whole world is grappling with the most catastrophic pandemic of the modern age, and the United States is imposing its unlawful unilateral coercive measures, including sanctions.

Hajilari added that, in principle, the use of unilateral coercive measures is illegal under any circumstances, but the continuation of the imposition of such measures and the imposition of new sanctions on countries, including Iran, even in such a critical situation, is an unforgivable sin.

The Iranian envoy stated that Iran is fighting on two fronts: countering the coronavirus and countering US economic and medical terrorism.

He added that despite all the unjust and illegal pressures and sanctions, Iran continued its efforts and as a result of these efforts, according to the 2020 report on sustainable development, it was able to rank 56th out of 166 countries in terms of development indicators.

Hajilari noted that in the field of education, eradication of illiteracy, and participation of women in various areas of society, Iran has almost achieved the set goals.
