Iran Press/ Iran News: Saeed Namaki, Iranian Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education, on Monday 12 October, participated at the 67th meeting of the Ministers of Health of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the World Health Organization, which was held in the form of a video conference.
At this meeting, he said: "Some countries have created problems for the import of influenza vaccine to Iran, and in addition to rising prices, there are other obstacles facing the import of this vaccine."
Namaki added that the harsh US sanctions created many problems for the procuring of drugs such as Remdesivir and Favipiravir. "These drugs are currently being produced in Iran, and seven research groups in the country are working to produce the coronavirus vaccine."
Referring to the positive results of the animal test of the domestically produced Covid-19 vaccine, the Iranian Minister of Health stated: " Iran has conducted successful tests on animals in several advanced cases, even on monkeys, adding that the vaccine will undergo human trials in the next two or three weeks."
Namaki also called on all member states of the World Health Organization and other regional and global organizations to work together effectively to end unilateral sanctions and ensure an immediate end to the Covid 19 pandemic.
The number of people infected with the coronavirus in the world has reached about 38 million, of which at least one million have died and more than 28 million have recovered.
The United States has the highest number of infections and deaths, with about 8 million people infected with the coronavirus and more than 219,000 killed.
