Iran Press/Europe: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the successful distribution of active quotas for reconnaissance flights for 2021 is a testament to the continued interest of the Open Skies Treaty (OST) member states in its practical implementation.
Ryabkov once again lamented the US decision to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty, adding that the decision would seriously damage European security.
Since entering the White House, US President Donald Trump has pulled out the country from many multilateral agreements, such as the Open Skies Treaty, the BRICS, the Paris climate agreement, on the pretext that it is to the detriment of the United States or incomplete or inconsistent with its security interests.
The Open Skies Treaty is an agreement between 34 countries that allowed reconnaissance aircraft to fly over the territories of the member states of this treaty on March 24, 1992, and entered into force on January 1, 2002.
