Iran Press/ Africa: Libya's national accord government announced on Tuesday that it could not take over the current presidency of the Arab League.
The Palestinian Authority announced on Tuesday (September 22nd) that it had relinquished its right to hold the rotating presidency of the Arab League in response to support from the Arab League Secretariat and Secretary-General for the normalization of relations between the UAE and Bahrain.
Following Palestine's withdrawal from the rotating presidency of the Arab League, Qatar and Kuwait also announced their opposition to accepting the current presidency of the union.
Selecting Kuwait and Qatar and then Libya for the current presidency of the Arab League was based according to Article 6 of the internal regulations of the union which states that If the current president of the Arab League at the ministerial level fails to take over the presidency, Its interim chairmanship is given to the representative of the country that will be the next president of the union.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League recently welcomed the shameful agreement of normalizing relations between the UAE and Bahrain with the Zionist regime, claiming that the agreement had halted the Zionist regime's plan to occupy parts of the West Bank.
The foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed an agreement on the normalization of relations with the Zionist regime in the presence of US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, September 15, contrary to the wishes of the Palestinian people.
The UAE and Bahrain's attempt to normalize relations with the Zionist regime has been widely criticized in the Islamic world.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called the announcement of the "dangerous" deal a "free reward" given by the UAE and Bahrain to the Israeli regime for its crimes against the Palestinians.
