The British Foreign Secretary on Tuesday stressed the need to maintain Iran's Nuclear Deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran PressEurope: "The UK, along with other European parties, is committed to upholding this international agreement," Dominique Raab said at the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee held at UK parliament.

The UK Foreign Secretary also once again described the US attempt to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran as "invalid".

Despite the opposition of most members of the UN Security Council, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday (September 20th) claimed that all UN sanctions against Iran, including arms embargoes, had been restored.

This claim by the United States has met with widespread opposition.

The European sides of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), China and Russia recently issued a joint statement referring to the unilateral withdrawal and the suspension of US participation in the JCPOA.

They stressed that Washington could not begin the process of reinstating UN sanctions against Iran under Security Council Resolution 2231.

US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the international agreement on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA, and announced the return of nuclear sanctions

Trump's move has drawn widespread domestic and international condemnation.
