Coronavirus cases in India: The country now has 9,44,996 active cases.

India continues to occupy the top global position with the maximum number of COVID-19 recoveries and accounts for 21 percent of the recovered cases worldwide, while its share in the total cases stands at 18.6 percent, the Union Health Ministry said today.

Iran Press/Asia: India has also maintained its global position with one of the lowest COVID-19 case fatality rates (CFR) when compared to several other countries.

While the global CFR stands at 2.97 percent as on date, the comparative figure for India is 1.56 percent, it said.

The deaths per million population in India is one of the lowest in the world. While the global average is 130 deaths per million population, India is reporting 73 deaths per million population, the ministry said.

More than one lakh people have died of coronavirus in India - the world's second worst-hit country - as the country recorded 1,069 deaths and total caseload crossed 64 lakh with 79,476 new cases, data released by the Health Ministry this morning showed.

The country has been reporting more than 1,000 deaths a day for the past month, with the exception of September 28, the government data shows.

The country now has 9,44,996 active cases and more than 54 lakh recoveries, Health Ministry data shows.

Globally, over 34,800,000 million people have been infected while 1,034,000 have succumbed to the virus. Also, 25,925,000 people have recovered so far.
