US faces unprecedented isolation: Iranian Envoy

Iran's ambassador to the UK in response to a recent US claim that UN sanctions against Iran were reinstated, wrote on Twitter on Sunday that the United States failed in its efforts against Iran an now is isolated more than ever.

Iran PressEurope: Hamid Baeidinejad, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Kingdom, wrote on Twitter: "30 days after the initial US request for the return of six UN sanctions resolutions against Iran, the Security Council, without any action, declared its opposition to the US and archived that request. The United States has faced unprecedented isolation and its anti-repression policy has failed miserably."

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement on Sunday morning, Tehran time, and despite global opposition, unilaterally claimed that all UN sanctions, including arms embargoes on Iran, had been resumed.

US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the international agreement on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA, and announced the return of nuclear sanctions

Trump's move has drawn widespread domestic and international condemnation.
