Tehran (IP) - The Afghan peace process in Doha, Qatar, is US-oriented and unfortunately in favor of the Taliban, said the member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Fada-Hussein Maleki.

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, regarding the new round of Afghan peace talks in Doha, Fada-Hussein Maleki stated, "It seems that the Afghan government is empty-handed in the talks."

The Iranian parliamentarian went on to say that the US intends to take advantage of the peace talks which undermines Afghanistan's sovereignty.

Highlighting that the US is trying to give the Taliban a political nature, Maleki stressed that Afghan friends and all groups involved in Afghan society should know that the US' hasty action in the Afghan peace is only orchestrated to win the upcoming US presidential election.

On how to achieve real peace in Afghanistan, the member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission noted that powerful countries in the region, including Iran, Russia, China, and Pakistan, should hold a summit on Afghanistan and should not remain silent.

Neighboring countries and the region must take the initiative on Afghanistan to reduce the US presence in the Afghan peace process, and there is no reason for the US to decide for the regional countries, he emphasized.
