A 5,1 magnitude earthquake hit some parts of Golestan Province northern Iran, in the early hours of Monday and 34 injured.

 Iran Press/Iran news: The quake struck at a depth of 9 kilometers, according to the University of Tehran Seismological Center.

Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the affected areas to assess the situation.

According to initial reports, more than 34 people have been injured in the quake.

Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, where earthquakes occur often and are destructive.
