Syrian new cabinet approved by President Bashar al-Assad

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday announced the country's new cabinet, chaired by Hussein Arnous.

Iran PressMiddle East: Being a caretaker Prime Minister of Syria previously, Arnous was re-elected as the permanent prime minister by Assad following the election of July 20, 1999, with the election of 250 members of the Syrian parliament for another four-year term.

Among the ministers elected for the Syrian cabinet are Major General Ali Abdullah Ayyoub as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Salwa Abdullah as Labor and Social Affairs Minister.

Mohammad Samer Abdelrahman al-Khalil as Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Gen. Mohammad Khaled al-Rahmoun as Interior Minister, Mr. Bassam Tu’ma as Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister, Dr. Hassan al-Ghabbash as Health Minister, are another senior figures in the Arnous cabinet.

The third round of the Syrian parliament began on August 10, 2020, after the constitutional amendments in 2012.
