Iran invites Taliban to join peace negotiations

Tehran (IP)- A senior Iran diplomat said that Afghanistan's problems have no military solution and the withdrawal of foreign troops from the country is a necessary step towards peace in Afghanistan.

Iran Press/Iran News: Assistant Minister for West Asia at Iran's Foreign Ministry Rasoul Mousavi, on Tuesday in a video conference meeting called "Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process" said Iran supports Afghanistan peace talks with the participation of all groups, including the Taliban, without any outside influence or interference.

The diplomat also called on the Taliban to join the inter-Afghan dialogue and see peace talks as the only way to reach an acceptable political solution and avoid violence during the talks.

Mousavi expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to help strengthen peace talks in Afghanistan by using its capacity and capabilities.

The official also stated that Afghanistan will be connected to Iran's railway in late October, adding that the connection will able the country to access international markets.
