Tehran (IP) - The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, stating that very constructive talks were held with the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that a new chapter has begun between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Iran PressIran news: "A new chapter has begun between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency. We hope the outcome of this trip will come up with good results," Ali Akbar Salehi told a joint news conference with Rafael Grossi, director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Tehran.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization added: "Through this trip, our cooperation will expand even more. I hope the result of this trip will satisfy both parties so that both the IAEA and the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of safeguards and additional protocol reciprocally act within the required regulations."

He said: "Today's talks were very constructive, it was decided that the IAEA will carry out its work professionally and independently, and Iran will act within the framework of its obligations."

Salehi stated that this is Rafael Grossi's first visit to Iran as Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, noting: "The history of acquaintance with Mr. Grossi dates back to the time when I represented Iran in the IAEA and he also represented Argentina in the IAEA."

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization stated: "It was decided that the Atomic Energy Agency should carry out its duties professionally and independently, and we should act within the framework of our obligations."

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, arrived in Tehran on Monday heading a delegation for a two-day trip to meet with Iranian officials. He is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and President Hassan Rouhani.
