In a joint news conference with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Wednesday, the Iraqi foreign minister, Fouad Hussein described Tehran-Baghdad's relation based on common interests, in cultural, political and economical fields.

Iran Press/America: "Iraq's relations with Iran are based on common interests," Fouad Hussein told at a news conference in Washinton, United States. He added that Iraq is always trying to interact with its neighbors on the principle of common interests.

The Iraqi foreign minister added that Baghdad wants good relations with its neighbors, including Iran.

The US has always wanted to weaken the strategic relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq, but Baghdad does not pay attention to this American demand.

Iraqi officials, including President Barham Saleh, have repeatedly praised Iran's assistance to Iraq in the fight against terrorism.

Iraqi officials and people also call for the continued support of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the reconstruction phase of the affected areas of Iraq.
