Tehran (IP) - In a joint press conference with the Iraqi Prime Minister, President Hassan Rouhani stated that the government intends to increase the trade relations between Iran and Iraq to $ 20 billion.

Iran PressIran News: After meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi, in a joint press conference with the Iraqi PM, President Rouhani noted: "Mr. Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kazemi, who took over the responsibility of the Iraqi government in a very sensitive situation, during these few months of his tenure, we have witnessed a good move in trade relations between the two countries and we talked about this today."

Rouhani added: "In today's discussions, we talked about the health situation in the region and the issue of the Coronavirus, and the Islamic Republic promises the Iraqi government and people that with all its might in terms of all health and medicine items stands by the Iraqi people."

The President emphasized: "Fortunately, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the necessary capacity and facilities to meet the needs of the Iraqi people in the field of health and medicine issues and is ready for exchange and consultation between the health officials of the two countries."

Rouhani said: "The second issue that we discussed was the promotion and expansion of trade relations between the two countries, and the government intends to increase trade relations between the two countries to $ 20 billion."

The president noted: "The two countries are also determined for the agreements that were approved between the two governments in Baghdad in March 2018 and it was agreed that all the provisions of that agreement will be implemented and operational.

Rouhani added: "Here, I need to mention two great heroes of the fight against terrorism, namely General Qasem Soleimani and Martyr Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, who were among the commanders who worked for the security of Iraq over the past years."   104/207
