Tehran (IP) - The Chief of the presidential staff, Mahmoud Vaezi said that inhuman and rotten sanctions should be lifted, and wrote, "Even US' allies are fed up with the Washington addiction to sanctions."

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian President's Chief of Staff wrote on his Twitter account on Monday: "The objection of the EU foreign policy chief against the US use of economic sanctions shows that even the US allies are fed up with the US addiction to the sanctions."

The chief of the presidential staff stressed, "The policy of sanctions is an inhuman, cruel and rotten policy that must be put aside. This is not just Iran's opinion."

On May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew his country from the international agreement and announced the return of nuclear sanctions, in violation of Washington's commitments under the UN Security Council.  

The US unilateral sanction continues with its recent efforts to reimpose Iran's arms embargo.

The United Nations Security Council arms embargo on Iran in 2006 and 2007 is supposed to be lifted on 18 October 2020, five years after the JCPOA Adoption Day.

The UN arms ban is set to expire in October based on the terms of UNSCR 2231, but Washington is campaigning to prevent its removal as it sees arms ban is another chance to put more pressure to Tehran It has threatened to trigger the return of all UN sanctions on Tehran if its draft resolution fails to win the votes of the UN Security Council.
