Palestine replaced by Israel on Google and Apple maps

The Foreign Minister of Palestinian National Authority (PNA) slammed Google and Apple search engines' removal of Palestine name from their maps and called the act an insult.

Iran Press/Middle East: In an interview with Al-Mayadeen on Friday, Riyad al-Maliki said PNA is considering the legal measures in response to Google and Apple's act.

"If Google and Apple insist on violating international law, then it will be easy to take the approach of prosecuting the officials of these two companies," al-Maliki said.

He noted that Google and Apple did make a mistake in their intentional political insult to Palestine.

The move of the two US companies to remove Palestine from the world map provoked the anger of some social media users. The users' request from these two companies to return Palestine's name to the world map, became a trend on Twitter.

Searching for Palestine on Apple Maps and Google Maps shows an outline for the Gaza Strip and West Bank territories, but no labels for Palestine.

Type Palestine on Google Maps and to your shock, you will not see it instead the users are being directed to Israel. Gripping netizens in a state of anxiety, the latest stint has been followed even by Apple maps which marked the end of Israeli annexation of Palestine by completely removing the later country off the world map.

The change comes at the heels of Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu pledging to establish West Bank annexations. However, they have already triggered global criticism with many countries calling it ‘human rights violation’.

From July 1, the Zionist regime, with the support of the US government, intended to officially occupy 30 percent of the West Bank, but with the opposition of the international community, the United Nations and most European countries, it postponed the plan.

The annexation of parts of the West Bank to the Israeli-occupied territories is one of the clauses of the anti-Palestinian so-called 'Deal of the Century', which US President Donald Trump unveiled on January 28, 2020.
