Tehran (IP) - The Guardian Council Spokesman Abbasali Kadkhodaei in a Twitter message stressed the need to counter US expansionism and unilateralism.

Iran Press/Iran news: On Tuesday night, the Guardian Council Spokesman Abbasali Kadkhodaei stated in a Twitter message, "The assassination of General Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps by the United States, which was recognized by the UN Special Rapporteur as a violation of international law, was a criminal act that unfortunately was accompanied by the silence of some international forums."

He further asked this question that "Is the international community able to counter the US regime's expansionist and unilateralism?"

In an interview with Reuters on Tuesday, UN Special Rapporteur Agnes Kalamar called the US crime of assassinating General Soleimani a violation of international law and called on countries to respond to targeted assassinations with military drones and to establish regulations in this area.

The late Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGCLieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, who had traveled to Iraq on the official invitation of the Iraqi officials, was assassinated by the US drone attack in Baghdad on January 3, 2020, along with the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis as well as eight companions.
