Iran Press/ Iran news: Ehsan Khandouzi stated that in the second step, additional agreements were made between the supervising ministries of both countries, and they also agreed on project implementation.
Khandouzi emphasized that coordinating efforts between the public and private sectors is crucial for implementing projects related to the Iran-China 25-year Cooperation Program. This coordination is considered the first step after a recent visit by President Ebrahim Raisi to Beijing, which led to the joint commission being held.
Khandouzi further added that he and Mohammad Mokhber, Iran's First Vice President, along with other officials from various ministries and the economic deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were present during the second step.
The head of the Iran-China joint commission also mentioned that Iranian and Chinese companies faced obstacles when operating in both countries. However, these obstacles have been resolved through cooperation between authorities from both nations. As a result, they are now prepared to engage in trade and long-term project investments in the upcoming months.
Iran experiencing prosperous cooperation with China
The Minister of Economy stated that Iran is currently enjoying a highly successful period of long-term trade and investment cooperation with China. Speaking at the 2023 Iran-China trade conference in Shanghai, Ehsan Khandouzi, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, expressed hope that this positive trend would soon materialize in the form of various projects.
On Sunday, the first vice president, Mohammad Mokhber, arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and received a warm welcome from Chinese officials and the Iranian ambassador to China. During the opening ceremony of the Sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE), the first vice president delivered a speech discussing the development of international markets for the Islamic Republic of Iran with Chinese officials and representatives from other countries. Accompanying him were the Minister of Industry, the Executive Vice President, and the Minister of Economy.
The CIIE is an annual trade fair held in Shanghai since 2018. It is considered to be the world's first national-level expo focused on imports. The exhibition is jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, with participation from organizations such as the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
The primary objective of this expo is to introduce China's domestic market to foreign companies while strengthening domestic consumption. It serves as a platform for win-win cooperation between countries with diverse economic backgrounds. Additionally, it facilitates close communication between companies and experts to help them find suitable business partners.
The inaugural edition of CIIE was inaugurated by Xi Jinping in 2018. Reviewing its past five editions, "open doors" and "sharing opportunities" have consistently been emphasized in speeches by Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He has repeatedly emphasized that China's doors will remain open and become increasingly accessible over time. China aims to provide a positive and stable driving force for global economic growth while serving as a large and dynamic market for countries seeking business opportunities.
In 2022, during its fifth edition, CIIE featured over 2,800 booths representing 100 countries worldwide. The event generated a turnover of $73.6 billion. This year's Sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) is currently taking place in Shanghai from November 5th to 10th. It comprises four sections: national pavilions, commercial pavilions, international economy sections, and activities related to cultural exchange.
With participation from guests representing 145 countries/regions/international organizations, more than 3,400 exhibitors have registered for this year's expo along with an expected attendance of approximately 394,000 visitors. These figures indicate a complete return to pre-coronavirus levels.
