Iran-Iraq emphasis on expanding security and defense co-op

The military attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad and the head of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defense of Iraq discussed the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security and defense.

Iran PressMiddle East: During a meeting in Baghdad today, Brigadier General Mostafa Moradian, Military Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq, and the chairman of the Iraqi Parliament's Security and Defense Committee General Abdul Amir Yarallah and Mohammad Reza Al-Haidar discussed ways to expand Iran-Iraq relations in various fields and implement military-defense agreements.

Mohammad Reza Al-Haidar thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its assistance to Iraq in the fight against the terrorist group ISIS and described it as an example of Iran's brotherhood with Iraq.

During the meeting, which was also attended by a number of members of the Iraqi Parliament's Security and Defense Committee, the two sides stressed the need to deepen and expand military-security relations between Tehran and Baghdad and the comprehensive fight against terrorists in the region.

Last week, Iran's military attaché in Iraq also met with Juma Inad Iraqi Minister of Defence and General Abdul Amir Yarullah, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to expand and strengthen military and defense cooperation. 212/ 207
