A number of people have been stabbed during a suspected terror attack at a park in the center of Reading.

Iran PressEurope:  Police and two air ambulances were called to Forbury Gardens at 7 pm on Saturday, according to the Independent.

Thames Valley Police said a man had been arrested at the scene and was being held in custody.

“A number of people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital,” the force added.

“A police cordon is in place in Forbury Gardens as officers investigate. We are asking the public to avoid the area at this time.”

Royal Berkshire Hospital confirmed that two people had been taken to the emergency unit for treatment to stab wounds.

The Daily Telegraph reported that three other people died at the scene but police have not yet confirmed any fatalities.

Meanwhile, the Press Association said they had been told by a security source that the incident was suspected to be terror-related and that the arrested man was Libyan.
