Armed groups attacked two villages in Mali, killing 43 civilians.

Iran PressAfrica: According to local sources, reported on Sunday 7 June unidentified gunmen attacked two villages, setting fire to people's homes and killing civilians.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The northern and central regions of Mali have witnessed bloody violence in recent months.

Mali has been plagued by coups and insecurity since 2012, followed by the rise of terrorist groups.

UN forces,  United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA),  and the French military have been involved in Mali since mid-2013, but have not performed well in stabilizing the country, and terrorist threats remain in the country.
