Iran Press/Iran News: Sohrab Daryabandari, the son of this veteran translator, published a message on his social page announcing the sad news and while offering condolences to all his lovers, he asked them not to go to his house in order to prevent COVID-19 infection and disease.
Najaf Daryabandari (born September 1, 1308, in Abadan) was a contemporary Iranian translator and writer. The translation of some of Ernest Hemingway's works, such as The Farewell to Arms, is one of his masterpieces. In 2017, the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran registered Mr. Daryabandari as a living human treasure.

Daryabandari had stopped working several years ago due to a stroke and was hospitalized and lost his wife.
He himself never was educated at the university, and he learned the most important lesson from the community and his lived experiences.
He received the Thornton Wilder Prize from Columbia University for his translation of American literary works.
In his view, translation is an action that the translator obtains through practice.
He said that translation was not a science, but an action and that it was something that one would learn through regular or irregular training, and in any case through trial and error. Daryabandari believed that a good translation was a translation that the translator could translate in such a way that the author himself would have written the text in the same way if he had been the translator.
