President: Armed forces as nation’s backbone making epic

Tehran (IP) - In separate talks with the Chief of the General Staff and Chief Commander of the Army, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran said that the Armed Forces of Iran along with the defenders of people's health and lives are making epic.

Iran PressIran News: Hassan Rouhani on Friday in separate telephone conversations with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, and Major General Seyyed Abdul-Rahim Mousavi, congratulated the National Army Day and said: "The Armed Forces are the backbone of the national interests and consistently proved the greatness of their work at various times and in social scenes and today along with the defenders of health and lives of people are making epic."

During the talks, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, and Maj. Gen. Seyyed Abdul-Rahim Mousavi, Chief Commander of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, presented separate reports on health measures, emphasizing that the Armed Forces are tirelessly working to fulfill the Islamic Republic's sacred ideals and consider it a great honor for them to defend the country and serve the people in all fields.

April 17, in the Iranian calendar, has been named ‘Army Day’ on the initiative of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

As the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread in Iran, the Army has taken all of its capacities in treatment as well as health care services in the battle against the disease.

For example, the army has built a 2,000-bed hospital in two days in line with its anti-coronavirus efforts. Iran’s Army has set up 7,000 convalescent care beds across the country to combat the coronavirus.

According to the Army Commander Major General Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, for combating coronavirus and help the country’s medical staff, the army allocated 11,000 of its medical staff in addition to producing masks and sanitizers.
