Iran international goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand is leading the best Asian player at the FIFA World Cup poll.

Iran Press/Asia: Beiranvand vies with Park Ji-sung (Korea Republic), Sami Al Jaber (Saudi Arabia), Tim Cahill (Australia) and Keisuke Honda (Japan) to be named as the Asian FIFA World Cup Hero.

He has garnered 66 percent of the votes, as announced on the Asian Football Confederation website.

Team Melli and Persepolis goalkeeper Beiranvand was shortlisted for the AFC’s Player of the Year in the men’s category, in mid-December 2019.

Beiranvand is famously known for saving Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and he repeated the feat against Oman in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 to lead Iran to the semi-finals. 101
