Legitimate defense of Iraqi people against US actions, inevitable

Tehran (IP) - The senior aide and adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Magor General Yahya Rahim Safavi stated that defense of the Iraqi people, government, and army against the adventures of the US in their country is inevitable.

Iran PressIran News: The senior aide and adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi wrote in a note on the analysis of US military operations in Iraq and their continued illegal presence in this country, “The US government must determine their responsibility to abide by international treaties and laws. If the current government abides by international law, the Iraqi parliament in a resolution a few months ago called for the deportation of foreign troops.

Major General Safavi added: "The withdrawal of US terrorist troops from Iraqi territory and the continued presence of troops following this resolution represent a breach of Iraqi national sovereignty. If the US government does not abide by international law and treaties. They must accept the consequences of the illegal presence and occupation of Iraq. The legitimate defense of the Iraqi people, government, and its army against the adventures of the US is inevitable.”

He further said in this note, “Iraqi people stand against the illegal presence of the US military. The current situation of the US military in Iraq and the violation of Iraqi national sovereignty is not in favor of the US military and the US central government. Of course, the region does not tolerate new tensions.”

“The era of the decline of American political and military power in the world and in the West Asian region has come. Right now, the brave Iraqi people and youths along with resistance groups are fully prepared to repel possible US military action, and any US move will mark a bigger strategic defeat in the current US president's record,” Major General Safavi added.
