Turkish Health Ministry medical supplies transferred to Tehran

Tehran (IP) - Part of donations made by the Turkish Health Ministry and Iranians living in Turkey has reached Tehran late on Thursday.

Iran PressIran news: Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that donated items include hygienic and treatment facilities were transported to Iran via Istanbul Airport.

Head of Iran's Health Ministry Public Relations Office Kianoush Jahanpour said on Thursday that 10,457 people out of a total of 29,406 infected by the coronavirus have survived it while 2,234 have unfortunately succumbed to the deadly virus.

Jahanpour said that 2,389 new affected cases have been detected since yesterday (Wednesday).

Over the last 24 hours, 157 people succumbed to death due to the deadly virus, he added.

After first appearing in Wuhan, China in December, the novel virus, officially known as COVID-19, has spread to at least 175 countries and regions, according to data compiled by U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.

More than 531,000 cases have been reported worldwide, with the death toll exceeding 24,000 and more than 122,000 recoveries.
