Tehran (IP) - Foreign Ministry spokesman, while sympathizing with the US citizen Robert Levinson's family, has said that Iran has no information about the fate of him.

Iran Press/Iran News: "According to reliable documents, Mr. Levinson has left Iran for an unknown destination many years ago and the then US Secretary of State has acknowledged this fact," Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said.

The US claims that its citizen Robert Levinson has entered Iran's soil in Kish Island in 2007 then disappeared.

The US accuses Iran of abducting its citizens, claiming that Levinson is still in prison in Iran and that the country should provide information to Washington.

Abbas Mousavi added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has done its best in recent years to obtain footprint of Mr. Levinson after leaving Iran, but has received no sign of his being alive."

The spokesman added: "If it is determined that Mr. Levinson has died, this can be announced without political exploitation and trying to abuse the Robert family's emotions." 104/207
